Description
MAX SOLAR CONTROL BOX CONTROLS ALL MAX LINEAR ACTUATORS IN REMOTE LOCATIONS
Solar control for all actuator installs, residential to commercial.
Maximum Controls’ solar operation capabilities are truly unmatched by any of our competition. The first gate operator manufacturer in the world to introduce expandable solar installation capabilities continues in its quest to produce the next generation in solar powered gate technology.
With the Max Solar Control Box we have yet to have a need to expand, but rest assured, if there is a requirement for more power it is at your fingertips and can be implemented seamlessly. If for some reason, be it excessive cycles, more cloudy days than expected, or higher milliamperes draw than expected cause system strain, simply expand the system.
All of Maximum Controls’ solar products are UL approved and can handle a high wattage 200w solar panel with our on board 10 amp hour SunSaver solar regulator. If you need to use a 400w panel for your geographic location, simply upgrade to a 20 amp hour regulator.
Please call Maximum Controls for a break down of how our integrated solar systems can be used to suit your needs.

MAX SOLAR CONTROL BOX Specifications
Values come from the Maximum Controls quick installation guide (Rev. 09/23/19) and Product Catalog V1 (08/27/25), whose Solar Arm Controller Box entry lists the same batteries, regulator and fuses. Neither gives a duty cycle, gate weight or length limit. Intertek’s UL 325:2017 Authorization to Mark lists “Max Arm Solar Box” with no usage class.
| Batteries | Two 12 V, 18 Ah AGM (Yuasa, per the catalog) |
|---|---|
| Solar regulator | Morningstar, 24 V, 10 A |
| Solar panel input | 24 V panel, 36 V maximum open circuit; polarity matters |
| Fuses | 30 A, included; the catalog lists two |
| Low power mode | With SOLAR MODE on, starts 30 seconds after the gate stops with no loop active. Stays on: main 12 V DC output, 10K port’s 12 V DC out, exit loop detector. Switches off: all other power outputs, center and safety detectors. |
| Operators | One or two swing-gate actuators (SINGLE/DUAL switch) |
| Sensor inputs | N.C. and 10K, for opening, closing or both |
| Inside the enclosure | DSP Arm Controller board, batteries, regulator, fuse |
| Low-power accessories | Radio receiver on the main 12 V DC output; keypad (AAS DKLP shown); EDI LMA1800-LP plug-in detectors for the optional loop rack |
| Panel sizes charted | 60, 85, 120 and 200 W |
The guide’s sunlight map places Riverside and Corona in Zone 1, about 6 hours of sunlight a day. There, the chart estimates 1,864 cycles a day for a 200 W panel at 100 mA draw with one rainy day, and 882 with ten. With a 60 W panel, the ten-rainy-day figure drops from 346 at 26 mA to 41 at 250 mA, so low-power accessories matter. The catalog lists the box as the solar control panel for Max Super Arms, such as the MAX SUPER ARM 2300, and the Max Ultra Arm.
