MAX Wiegand Converter Specifications
Values from the Maximum Controls Quick Installation Guide (Rev 3.5) and 2025 MAX catalog. Neither lists a duty cycle, gate rating or UL 325 class for this unit, which links readers and locks to the Max Cell Hub.
| Required hardware | Max Cell Hub over RS-485, matching (+), (-) and GND terminals; Max gate operators only |
|---|---|
| Power input | 12 V DC or AC; guide specifies a 12 VDC, 1 A transformer, either polarity |
| Wiegand input | 26-bit card readers, radio receivers and RFID transponders on D0, D1 and GND |
| Relay and RTE ports | Relay NO, NC and COM for a solenoid lock or access point; RTE input for an exit push button |
| Access point switch | Rotary: #0 opens through the Cell Hub only; #1-9 and A-E fire the local relay; #F does both |
| Hub capacity | Up to 16 access points, Max keypads and converters combined |
| Wireless version | One master pairs with up to 15 slaves at 900 MHz, up to 1 mile line of sight; slaves share the master’s RF channel, each with its own access point number |
| Wireless mounting | 10 ft minimum above ground, antennas clear of metal; three lit range-test LEDs mean RF range is OK |
| Keycodes | Facility code and Wiegand keycode per app user, untimed or on one of six timer schedules; scans are logged |
| Operating temperature | -20 °C to 70 °C (-4 °F to 158 °F) |
It suits a site already running a Max operator and Cell Hub that wants a card reader or pedestrian lock on the same app user list. At a Riverside or Corona community with a separate pedestrian gate, a wireless slave there reaches the wired master at the hub without a data cable, a layout to settle during access control system installation.
